Unexpected Races & Community Dynamics in Data & Analytics

While on a forest walk with my son, an impromptu race with a field of horses turned into an exhilarating chase. What began as a playful sprint between the two of us evolved into a heart-pounding dash as the horses joined in, adding an unexpected thrill to our adventure.

This experience mirrors the essence of community building within the realm of Data & Analytics. To galvanize a community, especially one as intricate as this, one must inject a burst of energy to catalyze movement. It’s about creating that initial spark that inspires IT services, business units, and even external stakeholders to leap into action.

In my role as a Data & Analytics strategist, I’ve found that nurturing these communities requires early and strategic investments; and that they are best done from the D&A department. It’s crucial that these ecosystems are business-driven, harnessing the collective expertise to foster innovation and drive value.

Just like in our forest race, it’s not about leading from the front but running alongside, encouraging each member to find their pace and eventually take the lead. When we invest in our communities with this mindset, we’re not just racing alone — we’re inviting a powerful force to join us, elevating the journey for all.
